What a great weekend

It sure was a great weekend for sport, upsets, surprises and the obvious. All these things happened over the weekend and we are going to catch you up on what happened.

First, lets start with the AFL, there were some big winners and some big losers. Essendon, who are undefeated, almost got their arse handed to them by the Greater Western Sydney Giants. The Giants were in front for a good half of the game, until the bombers kicked away, to just win the match. Unfortunately another unbeaten side wasn’t so lucky, the poor old Port Power suffered their first loss to North Melbourne. But the Power are still in the top 4 sides in the AFL and that is still bloody impressive, after all they have been through in the past couple of years.

Over to NRL now and the mighty Melbourne Storm put in a pretty lack luster performance against the green machine, the Canberra Raiders. The Raiders got the drop on the unbeaten storm nice and early and put some early tries on the board to put Melbourne on the back foot, this lead to the Storm making some horrible decisions. The Storm came back at the Raiders, but it was all to little too late and the Raiders served up the Storms first loss for 2013.

In Super Rugby news, the NSW Waratahs handed the new comers to the league, the Kings, a lesson in Rugby. The Waratahs but on 72 points against the Kings, after a while it seemed like a bit of a training session. In other games the Rebels came so close to upsetting the Chiefs. It was great to see Kurtley Beale back on the field too. And finally, the Reds and Force had another almighty battle, which lead to a draw. We don’t know what’s going on, but the Force always seem to have the Reds number.

There was a big boxing bout on Sunday morning, where the self proclaimed greatest boxer of all time, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr had a big win over Robert Gurrero. Mayweather was just too good winning 9 of the 12 rounds. Lets hope is next fight is against Manny Pacquiao, because lets be honest, it’s the fight we all want to see.

In the NBA, the almighty Lebron James has done it again. Yep he was named this seasons MVP. He does deserve this, he has had an amazing season and he is pretty much certain to lead the Heat to another Championship. We’ve reached the semi finals of the NBA playoffs now. The Bulls face the Heat. The Knicks take on the Pacers, to renew that old school rivalry. The Spurs take on the Warriors and finally the Thunder battle the Grizzlies. Strap yourselves in, because the playoffs are heating up.

Anyone for some beach volleyball? If I had of known I was going to end up in this position, I would have taken it up a long time ago.
